Thanks a lot for the feedback! I tried the swimming mechanics but it was very uncomfortable for VR. The change I'm planning to try with locomotion is rotating using wings by flapping on wing only to rotate in the other direction. My plan for this game is to add multiplayer with co-op. and enemy bugs that try to destroy the plants.
