The rpg  & map style is similar. It's just that your game runs worse and seems much simpler.

I mean it was made in a custom engine, which is insanely impressive.

I made my game entirely in java so that's just knowing how to code. what's more. the fact that he made his own game engine kinda  bit him in the ass, the game would almost not run and the screen wasn't sized properly on my computer.

(1 edit)

First of all you can resize the screen by using control and the scroll wheel, second of all there aren't that many people who can make their own game engine. Also the game ran fine I don't know what you mean.

on my computer it would run at less than 15 fps at all times. Considering that this is an extremely simple 2d , black and white, tiny map type of game, there is no reason why it should be running so slow. For example, i can run the game I developed that has a much larger map and  50+ ai's  moving around the map at at least 30 fps . Given that i'm on a trip and on my laptop, this might be why it ran slowly, but regardless, the game is optimized veryvery poorly.

I don't really see why that matters for a game jam game but ok

Well it kinda runs in the console and it won't run a lot faster without either major optimisations or by using stuff like opengl or some graphics rendering library. (which your game probably uses) Also the fps is capped at 20 FPS and for most people that have either played or playtested it, it wasn't a problem.

given that you are using a laptop you are probably using an intel pentium with integrated graphics

I'm sure you dont need a Nvidia and 8 core i7 to run a game like this .

Have you even played my game? And by play I don't mean wander around for 1 minute and then close it.

Since I don't really get how its similar to yours and simpler.

it's simpler in respect to the graphics, animation, and AI's. It's similar to mine in regard to the  open world adventure aspects. I'm not trying to insult you, but your game is very simple. I played it for around 5 minutes before commenting.

I can understand the graphics part. They are smaller and are mostly kept in an 8 bit style.

What AI's?  (Only the boss has an AI)

Also both of the games are open worlds, but the worlds are still different.

Sorry, but I don't get your point about the game being simple. Like what was the simple part about it? (imo the game is not really simple)

And how far did you go into the game? (Like did you do any Quests, or saw any NPCs, got any memories, etc)

I got to the part where i saw the cloud creature, and then I was lost in the infinite blankness of the map.

So you basically almost did nothing. (If I am reading this correctly)

I did everything the game offered. if the game was playable, i might have done more.

That's literally not all the game has to offer though.

it has to be playable before i can do everything it offers , right?

I played it and there is A LOT more content than you played. you just got lost in the map or something

dude are you ok

of course it would be its in his own engine
