Hi - I read your rules and like how light-weight they are and quick to pick up.

Have a few comments and questions:

  • Graphics are very cool and fit the vibe
  • This seems like a great "starter" ruleset for people interested in trying out RPGs - you pack a lot into that single page
  • For Attributes a character has a total of 3 points to distribute across Strength, Dexterity and Intellect - so you could have 0 for some attributes? If so - it might be good to call that out. Maybe provide a few example characters like "Fighter has Str 2 Dex 1 Int 0".
  • Any way to earn more points? Or any character advancement? Like fail 5 rolls and get 1 point of experience?
  • I feel like Deception might be more of an Intellect skill vs Dex
  • You mention Magic as an attack type but I don't see any Magic attacks or spells or guidance. Is that a general "magic attack" like a fireball?
  • What about healing?

All in all - nice work! Seems like a good start at creating a simplified RPG set of mechanics.

hi there, glad you liked it. To answer your questions.

Yes, you can have 0 in one and 3 in another, thats perfectly fine. I would have loved to included more examples into the document, however; this was intended as a 1-page / 1-shot rpg as part of a writting exercise for a jam hosted on itch.

No, there isn't anyway for character advancement, this is a one page / one shot rpg, just create a character, spend a few hours and have fun.

Deception could be interpreted as you like, i was just aiming for an equal number of skills for each attribute, and was missing a social skill for Dex.

Yes, magic is a generic attack.

No healing needed, the "blak-out" mechanic makes this more of a "survival" styled rpg as per the whole 1-shot thing.

I'm glad you are interested in it, and if you want to see more, I could consider making it into one of my larger works. Check out some of my "full sized" rpgs on my itch page. And I've got tons of free works on my discord channel as well.

Happy gaming!
