I really liked the gameplay and the theme was really well implemented. Haven't seen many games that could pull off both of those categories as well as this game. I played it a around 4 times and got to day 7 23h. After a certain point with the big enemies and lazers I just ignored food and reproduction and started dodging and running around because I would die if I didn't. So I'm wondering if I'm just bad at the game or if it is intended to only get food and multiply for the first 3/4 days.

Yeah that seems to be the strategy you wanna have: stock up on supplies in the early game and then group up defend yourself in the late game. Nice job on reaching the end of the game! You can still multiply in the mid-late game but that requires a lot more micro-management and allies stationed outside the nest to defend those multiplying.
