Up front: The story of this game is pretty dark & apocalyptic, which is not my most-loved tone. That said, my initial discomfort was really whisked away by the nuances/twists of the text exposition and voice acting. Although I didn’t like humanity from the start of the game, Jeff and the other pilot - and the evolution of the character I thought I was did suck me into the story.

An interesting “heavy metal” arcade game. The night rain and muzzles flashes were very atmospheric. Wide screen with the mech’s firing ark skew was a bold choice. Overall aiming the weapon was hard but it felt like the right amount of hard. If this game gets really expanded, I’d be interested to see spotting/tracking allies & drones (since you already have the scanner) and the white hit flash taken out. Could be replaced with sparks/fires/other damage fx. Could also develop the background story of why this one automated mech is not with all the others.

My score did not track (with v1.3), so that’s pretty disappointing for an arcade game. Also, it was very challenging to deal with how many enemies came (and how many bullets each could soak up), and keep an eye on all 360 degrees of the city. The big map was very cool, but I didn’t get to use any of it much without long-range weapons.

Overall: Fun tactical action but you quickly get overwhelmed, very well-done dark story and atmosphere.
