This game was really really really hard. I think you might need to give the player a little more control over their character in a post jam build. I think one thing you should do is allow the momentum of the square once it is already mid air. I did not feel I had control over where to hop. Don't get me wrong, I think that you should keep the game hard because that made it fun, but just give the player a bit more control so then the player can blame themselves and not their lack of control over the character.
