Thank you so much for your bug reports.
All of you experiencing the gamebreak upon entering Ed's room once you've taken the pin: did you all start the "Want to see a trick?"- Scene by talking to Ed directly or did you trigger it differently?
As far as I remember I have triggered the scene by talking to Ed. Then I got the pin and used it with purples letter in the office.
But this was in v1.0.0. Don't know if the bug is still present in 1.0.1 with a new game. With the old savegame it still remains.

I've started it by talking to Ed.
Also i got second Spinach can from microwave oven, but my can opener disappear.
