A couple ambitious attempts, but some quality of life could be improved all around.

PROS:

  • Game sticks to the jam palette limitations well.
  • There is a definite push for putting character into the context with the fun fishy font and the leading backstory up to the gameplay.

CRITIQUES:

  • The light grey characters on the light blue background blend together pretty hard so tracking the exact body of the character is difficult. You could solve this with something as simple as an outline of the character with the dark blue color so that the outline would stick out from the light blue while the light grey body inside that outline would stick out from the darker structures in front of the background.
  • Agree that the fishy font really takes away from things more than it adds because I couldn't read half the words either.
  • Agree with the story lead up taking a long time and feeling like a bit of a drag, especially after having to restart a couple times. Giving a long time to read the text is a good thing, but giving a button prompt for players that don't need as much time to skip to the next dialog bit would let all different reading speeds enjoy that content at their own pace.
