"I'm going."

He stood up, as though that made it final.

“N-No! Father, I-if you leave, your just g-gonna get yourself killed, y-you’ll faint b-before your even able to make the m-mile journey, just t-try and recon-!”

I've decided to get each of you a gift as this trip will be big money."

His father said, carrying on as if Sun hadn't spoken.

"Edin, what would you like?"

Edin: "A tiny little dagger!"

A wave of sickness washed over Sun as he thought of what Edin could and would do with a little dagger.

"Very well. Thalia, what would like, princess?"

Thalia looked up at Sun's dad with the big doe eyes she always put on for adults.

Thalia: "Can I have a new dress please, father?"

"Well, of course. Any particular colour?"

Thalia looked at Sun with a small, poisonous smirk before looking back at her stepfather.

Thalia: "Light pink please, father."

"Of course. And Sun? Anything in particular you'd like?"

Sun didn’t respond immediately.. he just felt sick to his stomach as thoughts began to flood his mind, after a minute or so.. he’d just look back at his father.. and have some sort of “angered” look..

“…For you to get rid of the ones that wound me so, just like you did with your own son..”

He then turned around.. and walked past his mother, not saying a word as he climbed back up the ladder, tears tempting himself to let them stream, yet he did not let them..

Sun's dad had left by the time he came out of his room from sulking, hunger getting the best of him. He overheard Thalia and Edin talking

Thalia: "Hey, what're you going to do with your dagger when you get it?"

Edin: "Isn't it obvious? I'm going to peel our little sunburn."

...I hate Edin so much-

Sun began to grind his teeth slightly as he rummaged through some cabinets , his stomach growled as it pained him to move much further, he was starving.. and he almost regretted saying what he did, skipping out on breakfast, but then he remembered his father, and that regret soon faded.

aaand-smol timeskippity skap to like three weeks later.

Sun had a habit of looking up sharply whenever a carriage trundled along the drive or when the front door opened when his dad was away. Now, he was looking up nervously every time there was a sound from outside. He looked back down at his Latin and tried not to listen to his step-siblings muttering just outside the room.

Edin: "He's completely batty if he thinks his dad's coming back, it's been three weeks already."

Thalia: "Journeys take a long time. Besides, even if his dad does come back, it's not going to stop us, is it?"

Edin: "We've gone on for this long with him. I just hope I get my knife in time."

Thalia: "You're going to have to be careful.... mother'sother's on to us."

Edin: "Please, Mother knows something's up, but you think she'd believe the Devil incarnate over her own flesh and blood?"

Sun swallowed and tried to focus on what he was reading. Periculum. That meant danger, didn't it? Fitting.

Thalia: "She likes Sun, though. She's worried about how jumpy he is."

Edin: "The sunburn's always jumpy. That's just how he his."

The sound of the door opening stopped his step-sibling's conversation short.

This time, he did not worry about the door opening, if anything, he tried to block out any noise possible, his ears rung as some sounds… grew louder, there was a point it felt like the sounds were so loud, it was hurting his own ears, his hands were placed on the side of his ears as his eyes were shut tight, desperately trying to make the sound stop.. when..-

His stepmother walked into the room, wiping her eyes.

"quietly Sun....can you come here, please?"

The ringing would soon slowly fade, and he’d look up at her for a moment.. then just simply grab his book, close it.. and walk up to her

“.. Is there something you need.. mother..?”
