Fun game, I got the 4th ability, but I got trapped because I couldn't switch modes when trapped up against the ceiling underwater.
I had that too, just press P, quit, and continue. It'll set you at the beginning of the room.
Or run into the spikes to the left, if it's that place where there are spikes to the left. (I also hit this.)
