Theme of Arcaza: The sound you create right off the bat is unique and captures the listener’s interest. This works very well as a theme because it combines both electronic and acoustic sounds that define your soundtrack. This track definitely has the vibe of Aquatic Ambience while putting an Arcaza sound to it and definitely sets a chill but underlyingly intense mood. It’s a really cool track!

Beelzebub’s Reprizal: I like your alternation between the two minor chords as it makes this track feel dark and ominous. But your lead brass comes in adding a sinister quality with the rising melody. This is a solid theme for the main antagonist of your game.

A Hero’s Call: The use of the I-bVI progression at the beginning gives spiritual vibes and the wind melody gives direction leading into the march section. I think this is a great way to transition from the beginning to the rock section while keeping it sounding cohesive. Your brass melody with leaps of 4ths and 5ths sounds so triumphant and really nails home that this is the song of the hero. I also like that you put a true ending on when you had the opportunity to loop it. Outros can be difficult and you were able to efficiently tack one on that sounded like a conclusion to the rest of the track. This is my favorite of all your tracks!

Temple of Sumaltar and Temple of Wingtall: The ambience of these tracks is very well done. I imagine these tracks would feel right at home in PS1 era adventure games.

Face Off with Beelzebub: You show off your hard rock chops in this piece and it fits perfectly! This is a very high quality track that has a strong melody and a lot of variation that could make a long boss battle fun and interesting the entire time.

Overall: You have a real knack for strong melody writing! Every track here has a solid melody that makes sense, is easily followable by the listener, and is supported by the harmony without feeling too predictable. This is a fun soundtrack and it would be really cool to hear more music from the world you have created! Great job and thank you for sharing!

You definitely put much more thought into this album than what I thought this is worthy of, so that really demonstrates your passion for the craft. Thank you for your thoughts. It's cool to see some of my music through a bit of an analytical theory lens from another person - it feels like I'm being exposed, but in the best way possible. I'm glad you enjoyed my work and that does motivate me to want to continue composing for this "world". I initially had about 13 tracks in mind, but my brain only seemed to allow me to get 6 out this time around, I'm glad I didn't force myself and went with songs that I felt satisfied with rather than a bunch of songs that were kind of "meh". I would probably also add parts and alter some of the existing songs.

My goal is, in fact, to tell a story, as someone who studied screenplay writing in college, acquiring those skills actually help me compose music - pacing, grasping the audience attention, hook, structure, intention etc. To me, melody is key for a lot of music when it comes to grasping the audience's attention - I think that's usually the part of music where we can connect to the most. Your album, in my opinion had some ear catching melodies and I can tell your knowledge in theory oozes through your work as well.

The ps1 era is exactly what I was going for, I think using my roland sc-88 vst really sells that.. it also does have some really classic instruments that I can't help to use.

Feel free to leave criticism back as well. I'm always open to improving my work in whatever way possible. I think this work could have used a bit more leitmotif, to which, I could not quite find a hole for one. Perhaps, if I revisit this, I will be able to put more time into that aspect. Anyway glad you liked it and thanks for listening!
