Fred did say that, but he may have been lying to both determine if he has a chance with Walter, and to prevent Walter from befriending Talbot out of jealousy/sibling rivalry. Which is very sus of Fred if that's what's really going on. He did also bring up how Talbot thinks he won't be Gil's favorite with Walter around.

I think talbot doesn't like walter cause he know that gil like walter remember when walter first met talbot he's not that aggressive but when he notice that walter is super close to gil he kinda got jealous and kinda snap
