This was super fun! I ended up playing for quite a long time, as I had a run going that got pretty far.

I think the coolest aspect of this game is the unchanging upgrade price. It means that, at the beginning of the game, you are playing an extremely difficult game, where you really have to be careful and use the physics well. Then, in the middle of the game, you become slightly more adept, and can maneuver a bit better.

But then, as soon as you buy the 0 shot delay upgrade, you basically become invincible, and can easily start racking up ridiculous amounts of money. And then, if you're like me, your pour all that money into all the other upgrades, and suddenly your ship is less usable than it was at the beginning.

And to top it all off, when you just hold the shoot button with this shot delay upgrade, the repeated sounds of the shooting effect make a sound that seems almost divine. The game really kind of feels like becoming a god who can't control their own power. But the thing is--you do have to put in the work in order to reach this overpowered state. And so the narrative arc of the game, with these different stages, and this progression from little-control to good-control to very-little-control of the player character is so epic. It's just a super great experience and kind of unique, all because the upgrade mechanism doesn't have growing costs with upgrade levels.

All of this gameplay of course benefits greatly from the graphics and sounds in this game, which I would say are pretty good. The cannon balls feel like they have impact, and in the earlier stages of the game, hitting a good shot is really satisfying. The particles effects are really well done, I would say.

So overall, this is just a great entry. It's one of my favorites, and certainly the one I've played the longest thus far. 😄

I was definitely not expecting a 3 paragraph analysis on the shop-that-i-added-on-the-last-day-which-i-did-not-think-critically-about, but thank you! (edit: now that I'm thinking about it thats actually genius if a game focused on that (like the difficulty curve is based on the controls (like remember i am bread those controls were hard from the start but this is super smart)))
