Well, i was gonna say. If a person makes a bot, they're the only one that can use it. If a player tries to use that bot they'll not be able to unless they have access from the player. They can claim a bot if a bot is made by a bot, botception. Once they claim bots, the bot you claimed will be unclaimable for other users, and you can disown the bots as you're bots. If you disown a bot as you're bot, a player can own that bot if it was disowned by a player.

i think what gmrose9 is trying to say is that autonauts is completely based on the fact that it is singleplayer and adding a multiplayer function would mean rewriting the whole way the game currently works. meaning, it would probably be more worth the time of the developers to make a completely new game than to create a multiplayer version of the game.
