What I liked:

  • The hand-drawn art feels fun.
  • You implemented the building and upgrading of bases feature. That's been a goal of mine, but I'm still timid on trying it out.

Suggestions:

  • There really wasn't much feedback to the play as to what was happening. If I get hit, as a player, I want to know it and feel that sense of danger. If I hit an enemy, I want to know if I was successful. This feedback could be visual and/or auditory, but it should be there.
  • I feel like you should make it clearer to the player that each section is blocked until you kill the enemies. For a while I thought I was encountered a collision issue/bug.

I saw that you mentioned that this is your first game jam and want to congratulate you on submitting! Please don't confuse my criticisms as a put down. I like to provide real feedback to the developer as player. This helps us all get better!

Thank you for your feedback! It means a lot. I'm super happy you liked the art style. I didn't wanted to make a pixel art game, but wasn't sure my drawing skills with be enough to make a game.

I absolutely agree on both your sugestions. I have a lot to learn, but knowing someone actually played my game is a big motivation boost to improve and continue working on games :D

No problem. That's one of the cool things about jams. We get to test ourselves, find out where we need to improve personally, and then get feedback from others that we may not have considered and that's knowledge for the future. Feedback has greatly improved how I think about the player's experience.
