Awesome quality and polish level for a jam entry !
Not surprising considering what i remember from your previous "PL" game :)
Killer soundtrack, Cool looking sprites on those lovecraftian monsters, overall good art direction to sum it up.
Gameplay wise i like that this is keyboard/mouse for aiming cause when things get hectic the extra precision is very much welcome XD and i also like the way you made your custom difficulty selection where you can choose your hp and game difficulty separately.
Some of the negative points i personally found were that at first the mechanics to break free from the chains you get trapped onto can be a bit confusing to grasp, but it can be picked up quickly that you have to use enemies to break the links. And a tiny bit of inconsistency with checkpoints, having one right after the segment where the lasers chase you was cool, but then on the next segment i went on a long run and collected to upgrades clearing multiple rooms and when reaching the double large torso enemy bosses i die, but the checkpoint took me all the way back really far.
Now that said this doesn't detract from the general quality of the game, and it's really nice to have a more free roamingtype of game this time around, with the chain areas here to cleverly implement the theme without limiting the map too much.
