Thanks for your comment! It really helps me a lot to know your opinion. I didn't think "space" was such a bad place to pause; Honestly, I didn't think much about where to put the button. The music of the game was something that I composed and I understand that it did not fit very well; try to make it as active as possible to motivate the player to continue playing (psss, obviously xD). It was also my first time composing something, so it's normal that it came out not very decent, so your comment helps me to think better about the ambient music of the game. :)

oh don't get me wrong, I rated this game pretty high, its not far from perfection ;) you don't need to change the song entirely, you could add some soft spooky pads to make it just dark enough to fit the them of the game. a good key for pause in my opinion is "Esc" or "Enter", I say this because "space" is usually used for actions such as fire in games from this genre. I'm myself a music producer originally so I absolutly salute you for producing your own track for your own game! :)
