Well, that was fun to play.

What did I like:

  • First of all the characters starting with the protagonist. One instantly has positive feelings about him, watching how his mates all let him down but he keeps doing his thing. The other characters are all unique and well written with all their backstories. Some of them are super lovely, some are dudes that I would not like to have around me. It's really a success to make players feel like this about characters. Great job!
  • The art style and the 3D + Sprites approach. The characters sprites are lovely designed and also showing other guests just as silhouettes is a great move that sells the scene. The stage is always visible so that one always has the goal in mind and the dialogue system used supported the nice text animations too. (I think i remember this. Its a free plugin right? Or have you implemented this yourself?).
  • The multiple choice conversations. Some where quite hard at the start. For example the NFT guy was hard to grasp. What kind of answer would a guy like this prefer? It got better after the first 2 answers ^^. In the end I didn't felt like asking him into the band, same for the deer ;). I like how the conversations are used to sell the characters and shape the players opinion about them. Very well executed.

What I want to mention:

  • Maybe I just did not realize it but did the choice, who plays what really change the last song?

What can be improved:

  • I accidentally made Tony my Guitar guy and I would have loved to correct this afterwards by reassigning him to another instrument. But that's the only thing here I can think of when it comes to further improvement.

The Story was unique and the gameplay was fun.

Thanks for the hard work and props to all of you :)

Thanks for the detailed feedback, I’m glad you seemed to enjoy it!

I was definitely trying to make sure that it wasn’t always 100% obvious which answer was correct, and was based on their personality. I made it so that you only needed 3/5 correct answers, so there’s a bit of leeway.

The song does change based on who you pick. Basically, for each instrument there’s a “good” and a “bad” version. The biggest differentiator is definitely the keyboard, it’s a bit harder to tell with the others unless you’re paying attention.

As far as changing the assignments, that’s not a bad idea. I was trying to make the dialogue as naturalistic as possible, so you can only do each dialog branch once, and once they’ve made up their minds, they won’t change it. That being said, there’s no reason you couldn’t reassign people.

Right. Especially since it's not about telling them suddenly: "Uhm, you're not in the band anymore." but just making up your mind which instrument they should play, which can happen since: Hey that dude there is a professional keyboard player and you told be you can play the guitar as well - would you mind switching to guitar? :)
