Good:
- Intriguing aesthetic. Definitely feels dreamlike, and some of the sprites are really charming.
- Lots of story, between the opening cutscene and all the talking with Augus. Wasn't expecting that.
- I'm intrigued to find out more about the world. What are the trials? What's up with the ear prejudice?
Bad:
- I got soft-locked. At the bit with the white square with blue squares stuck to it (what is that?) I went past it to get the herb, and accidentally knocked it under the opposite branch. Since I couldn't get it back out, there was no way to proceed.
- Related to the above, the opening cutscene is unskippable. Since there are no save games (as far as I saw), it would be nice to have the option to skip that on replays.
- Combat wasn't very satisfying. The hit animation on the Fleurechomps is great, but they have very high HP, and there's no sound, particles, or screenshake to make hitting them really satisfying.
Overall, this is a bizarre game with an intriguing story. I'll probably come back to it when I have more time.
Btw, not sure if this is intentional, but it really made me laugh when Augus asked me if I knew how to jump, when my character had been jumping to advance the dialogue every single time.
