You might have same issue - try pressing Z, I also thought it was frozen at the start (but I didn't read instructions in description lol)
Pressing "z" during the intro text won't actually do anything, it's set to change the scene every 2 seconds.
dam I thought I was actually affecting the game lmao, reminds me of trying to speed up pokemon battles by smashing the 'a' button on the old nintendo ds games haha.
