A good pacman clone with some clever and amusing messages and…other things…in each level. Still, I have to point a few things out (some are probably pointed out by others I imagine)
- This needs grid-based movement. Badly. Pacold keeps getting stuck on corners.
- The ghostreids (ha!) weren’t too terribly bright. In the original pacman, one charming thing about the ghosts is that each one has a different algorithm that determines what route it takes as it chases the player. These ghosts just kind of…derped around as they tried to get to you. I don’t think they tried to flee when you got the sword pickup, either–but I could be wrong about that.
- Ghosts having permadeath lowers the challenge significantly.
- The hearts are a bit too busy visually and can distract the player from more important things (their own location, ghost locations, sword power-ups, etc
- This game really needs a few seconds of “Get Ready!” before it starts so the player can get their bearings on each new level.
