Hello there! :) Привет!
How does your game fit the theme?
Да
Well, that escalated quickly! ;)
I think you should explain the link between your game and the theme.
By the way, I used an automated translator to understand your game page, and I think the translation was fair enough. (I know a bit of Russian through Duolingo, but my Russian is not at all up to par to read it yet, unfortunately.)
Here come some comments.
- Tutorial/Beginning: arrow keys are shown, although the controls seem to be only WASD. By the way, I have an AZERTY keyboard, and this unfortunately translates to ZQSD to me… You can generally program so that the physical locations of the keys will be taken into account, instead of the letters.
By the way, I think the way you show the drawn keys in game (instead of on an instruction page) is cool! It feels more immersive. - I like the personal hand-drawn graphics and animation. I especially enjoy how the die roll is depicted (with multicoloured semi-question marks semi-Ankis)! :)
- As you say in the game page, too bad the bosses do not attack yet, nor move… The game is clearly unfinished, so we can only imagine what it would be like were it a bit more complete.
- I am not sure how the main mechanic (= attacking by throwing a die that determines the random amount of damage) would play out in an actual fight; I guess this would depend on how the bosses behave. And although it is visually original, I feel it may not be very innovative or fruitful gameplay-wise.
- Apparently, you can throw another die while one is still ‘active’. I believe you did not have time to adjustate this kind of details; nothing serious, just telling you!
- Death / The Grim Reaper, Cerberus… This reminds me of Super Castlevenia IV, or other episodes. Maybe an inspiration you used? :)
- Weirdly enough, it seemed Cerberus did not always lose the amount of health shown on the die; I wonder whether the bosses have some kind of random defence statistic.
- Ah, the game ends after Cerberus; which is coherent with the game description. (By the way, you can fall if you walk to the right, but once again, this is probably a symptom of the game’s ‘unfinishness’.)
I would say I really like the effort you put in the graphics and animations (including details such as Cerberus’s death, which is quite Castlevania-esque too); too bad the game is not finished. Apart from its being unfinished, I still feel the main mechanic may not have been that original, although I may be wrong on that count; please feel free to argue if you think it is original and why. :)
