An interesting idea to have multiple machines suited for different environment interactions.
PROS:
- The character art is super cute and each of the mechs has its own charm.
- The audio creates a nice ambient environment without being overbearing so it's executed well.
- There are numerous ways that puzzles could scale with the various interactions between the character abilities and the environment.
CRITIQUE:
- Definitely collision issues with several parts of the levels. Hit boxes for the spike or fire objects feels a bit large and unforgiving and generic base collision blocks often have me floating up the sides of them.
- The vertical speed of the jumping is really fast right now with the severity of the gravity and the speed with which the ascends during jumps. Add that to the slightly large hit-boxes on things that instantly kill you and you've got a lot of possible frustration points to come across.
- I found myself wanting to explore the seed growing mechanic a lot more just to test the extent of maps and where I could possibly find secret areas. The limit to the number of seeds might be to keep me from just escaping levels everywhere, but it would be interesting if players were allowed to go nuts with it and be rewarded for doing so. Beyond that I would just run out of seeds by default going from one puzzle to the next because I didn't know how to get more. I thought that maybe burning boxes that didn't seem necessary for the platforming might get me a pickup from inside, but that didn't seem to be the case.
