Congrats on submitting to the jam! Its unfortunate that you didn't have time to flesh out your game other than basic movement. Since there was so little content, its hard to provide specific feedback to your entry other than I felt the camera/level swivel from an overhead perspective felt odd and it hurt my eyes a bit.

So for general feedback, here's what I would suggest moving forward

  • Keep your scope small and limited to what you know you can do. Later down the road, you can use jams to experiment and learn new things.
  • Think about the player experience when designing your game. Important actions should be clearly communicated to the player. For instance, as a player, I like audio/visual feedback for when I take damage or do damage to an enemy, not only does it confirm to me that my hits were successful, I get a satisfying feeling from it.
  • Pay attention to feedback. The best thing to come out these jams is helpful feedback that you can keep in mind and improve on in the future. The same goes for giving feedback to others. It needs to be meaningful and not just "your game was good" or something of that nature.
  • Don't join jams just to win. Just don't.

Good luck in the future and keep working on learning!
