The control of the ship is being set by the age of your pilot. I am afraid, you didn't experience what this game was made for. I strongly suggest you to try and play it again, and read the rules. Probably, as most people playing the game for first time, you put the 2 year old Dave in control of the ship, I think you see why the control had to be hard.
