I would highly recommend just playing it anyway! It's pretty easy to just set up an emulator like Project 64 to play it on your PC, or, if you have a powerful enough computer you could download Citra and play the 3DS remake (it has some nicer features that makes it more accessible--such as changes to skipping part of the time of day as opposed to only being able to skip the whole day--but in all honesty some of the changes to the boss fights are pretty lame).
