Haven't played many FPS jam entries so it might be me but the game felt bit over ambitious. The graphics do look nice but since they are very detailed, they also make the loading times bigger. And that is something you might want to consider when making a game like this. After the first cutscene I thought the game froze since there was no indication of loading happening.

Objective wise I would've liked a journal or some tooltip on menu to tell me where to go again, because I was having a hard time reading the small print in the corner. I was also focusing on the controls so I might have missed my time to read there. Either way, some clear indication of objective would have been cool.

For action, there were features lacking I was expecting to see in a shooter. First, headshots. I was taking my sweet time to aim only to see it not having any impact what so ever. Which leads me to the second point, lack of feedback. Most of the time I had no idea whether I had hit the mark or not.

Lastly, I wasn't able to reload my guns for some reason.

Either way, I think you did a fine job pulling all the pieces together. For future I highly recommend putting your game in more accessible format and on a known platform if you want others to play it. Downloading from a google drive is very dodgy business.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, and taking your time to try it out. I’m a frank kind of person and for that reason I like your comment a lot! Really! Thank you.

This was definitely too ambitious, I was quite happy with how the graphics turned out; but like you said, it takes a long time to load; and took a long time to build as well.

My idea with the vague instructions at start was to emulate old school FPS games. But I’m like a disabled person when it comes to artistic, so the text color ended up being difficult to read and I was struggling for time at the end trying to get it in a playable state and build, that I couldn’t even change that. I even read the compass wrong and said North West in the instructions when in fact it was South East, i realized this only after submitting. I agree that clearer instructions would have been so much better.

I was completely let down by the AI solution I choose for the project. In hindsight, i would have definitely choose something else. But once I was committed to the project, I didn’t have time to change it. In my opinion, the terrible AI, and it’s subsystems, completely ruined the FPS experience.

Reload should have definitely worked, unless you didn’t have spare ammo perhaps? Either way, I’ll investigate this.

By the time I realized, ten minutes before jam countdown reached zero, that the upload was limited to one gigabyte It was already too late :D I first put it on my website, but the bandwidth was dreadful, so my contributor on the project uploaded it to google drive. I’m terribly sorry for that, I was a bit ignorant coming into this game jam.

Thank you for the honest and valuable comment!

If nothing else, you are more prepared for the next one and know which AI to avoid :D
