(I am now in a rush to test as many games as possible to help, so please do not mind the cursory reviewing style.)
Ah, an FPS apparently! Not played really many in game jams!
game page: misspelling "or helping out" -> "for helping out"
[testing the desktop version, as per advised ;) Using version 1.07 to be up to date, and since late submissions are possible, this seems fairer; I was about to download the game jam version and realized this! I will see the game jam version in the future :)]
WOW, crazy distortion effect! :D This is shader paradise (or hell, seeing the lava?…).
Controls are QWERTY-only instead of layout-independent (I have an AZERTY keyboard), BUT arrow keys are enabled. BUT not practical with the E key! :o
Escape ungrabs the mouse; is this normal?
Can you fall? Yes. X)
Ah, restarting: randomness!
Ah, moving faster in the light!
AAAAAAH!! :O Phew, slow but creepy!!
Wow, spawning rate is clearly an increasing function of the number of activated generators! XD Reminds me of "Slender Man".
Space to jump! Is it useful?
Can they get inside the shed? (Spoiler: where I found TWO gasoline jerrycans.) No?… Oh, died anyway! :o Is the "infinite bips" sound normal when losing?? :o Hard on the ears! I did not have it when I fell.
Firing on fruit: nice, green effect! :)
Actually, the enemies also get BIGGER… (And more resistant.)
Nooo, had to go the the possibly last generator, but the shadow made me even slower than before, and had NO CHANCE to avoid the guy…
Letting the game over screen: you hear more and more numerous howls. XD
Hey, you can pick up the gasoline through the walls! ;) Is this expected?
Ah, actually, the gasoline seems NOT to be random, merely your starting position (I think?).
MADE IT! Without damage! :D
Rescue phase: easier than the generator phase; the real trouble for the player, I think, is the effect of darkness on speed — both yours and the enemies’.
Takeaway: really cool concept: simple but effective mechanic (speed-inducing shadow)! And the enemies are super frightening in this dark and distorted small floating lava island… When enough generators are activated, I feel like firing on enemies is generally useless, the best is to find the next gasoline unit, the next generator, only kill the nearby enemies, and make a run for it! So, this is not brainless firing, you have to plan ahead somewhat. I just think the connection to the constraint is loose: the generators are quite solid once filled up (thank God for that! XD), and the time limit for the rescue phase is more of a generic concept. Other than that, the game felt very playable and pleasant! :)
Thanks for the fright (or no thanks, I guess?!) and the adrenaline boost! X)
PS: why the title Imsomed, by the way? Something escapes me!
