Great interpretation of a hilarious episode! I'm not sure what gets the person in a rage after I get the machine though and everything goes south quite soon.
After you get the machine he rages when it incorrectly gives or doesn't give someone soup. The idea was you pay periodically to increase the machine's accuracy, but yeah - when the machine accuracy is low, if it gets a few wrong in a row, you're kinda hosed.
