Loved loved LOVED the parallax effect. It was so good! Possibly a little too good actually as sometimes I found myself just moving around the scenery more than paying attention to the story :D I'm a little jealous I have to confess, I found a tutorial about how to get the effect on the title screen, but not in the game. I'm going to have to look into how to do this, you have inspired me!
Speaking of title screens, I absolutely love what you've done here. Very creative with a whole lot of nice touches. I admittedly spent a fair bit of time on just playing around with it too before actually kicking off the game :D Very well done.
I really liked the art. It all worked really well thematically. Sounds/music were all great too.
The only real disappointment was how abruptly it ended. But I'm pretty bad with reading things properly so I jumped in not knowing it was a demo. So that's on me for not having the right expectations.
All in all though, great stuff! Well done!
