Looking back at other Jams I think if you find a way to "strech" defenition to fit then anything can be accepted. Sometins takes on theme get really creative.
Keep in mind that that you may loose points in voting if others don't agree with this. You may also not get good score in Innovation category if people see it just as Asteroids clone.
