I'm not quite sure of how this fits to the theme. In my life gardening is violence, to be sure, but I haven't had to shoot anything. (Yet.) This definitely seems harder.
I liked that I knew exactly how to play, immediately. There was nothing confusing about the controls or the UI. I did have a period in the Brown garden where one of my team was just skipped by the game for a few turns. I wasn't given the option to use him after the first few turns - it just cycled right past and then after a while suddenly he was working again.
As you have noted the enemy AI could do with some work but if it had been any better I don't know that I would have won without more tactical options for the player. As others have mentioned even low percentage shots tended to hit most of the time so I also wasn't sure that the number was accurate.
I know you really like entering jams - and presumably therefore doing new things - but I'd like to see you work on this some more. I think it has potential. Practice working on the AI, add more gardens that allow for different kinds of strategic movement, that sort of thing.
