I think that the game version should be saved as part of replay files, and displayed in the replay menu, so that it's easier to view them as they originally played out.
If not as an addition to the UI system, the version number could be placed at the start or end of replay file names. Though I'd prefer the former, you wouldn't need to spend as much time.
