What are your crashes? I started a new file in v4.4 and had hell of a time to get it to be stable. Frankly, I don't know what I did but I was able to play for over an hour without a crash after messing with it for an hour...
I had deleted some files in the UnrealEngine folders in AppData, but that did not seem to fix it for me. Copying saves over may have caused problems the first time, and second time I tried. This third time I downloaded the file again and kept it clean and its working OK. I also set the game to fullscreen instead of windowed. Soon I will be trying to bring my v3.9 file over, but I probably won't even use it anymore due to the changes in how experience works.
