Blake and Silvy: The peaceful opening piano chords are great for the beginning of a joyful life. I think you have great pacing that allows the music to tell the story of a toddler who has lots of energy and spirit and how she perceives the world. Particularly, I think the pizzicato strings were an excellent touch to show the bounciness that a young child carries themselves with.
Fireflies are Birds the Fly in the Sky: I can picture the fireflies/stars as soon as the track started with the twinkly mallet instrument. The flute melody in this track is absolutely gorgeous. Your use of flute over piano chords and string staccato is a combination that I might borrow in the future to help evoke carefree and adventurous youth.
I Want a Motorbike that Can Take Me to the Moon: The flute and strings are lower and more mature in this song which matches the story of Blake getting older very well. I like the quick switches from 3/4 to 4/4 time throughout, it’s almost like a musical double-take. The emotion of struggling to realize inner desires is conveyed well through this piece.
Sloth of the Lost Soul: I love the solo instrument with lots of reverb - as if there is emptiness in Blake’s life and she has tunnel vision preventing her from seeing what her childhood eyes could see. I’m not sure if it was intentional, but I think that silence at the beginning and end of the track works well as a sort of space-occupying contemplative vacuum for reflection.
I See it in the Distance: This is beautiful. I can tell that this is your style - and you are definitely great at it. It was like watching a short movie while listening to this song. Your harmonies and melodies paint all the emotions of what is happening. Thank you so much for sharing this story and musical experience!
