Shooting Star: I like the music box style – this works very well as an intro theme. The falling arpeggio is great musical imagery for shooting stars.
Starfall Main Theme: This is very creative to try and fuse two musical styles. These two genres are particularly difficult to combine so props to you!
Claire’s Theme: I got great images of a fancy woman in my head when listening to this theme – definitely fits your description of “refined”. The somber undertones of this track make me think that Claire maybe has some secret that makes her sad, but she doesn’t want other people to know about it.
Shane’s Theme: That kick sound is fat and big and awesome! This is a fun scrappy tune that makes Shane seem like a broody person who has been through a lot in his life. I think your choice of chiptune sounds for the lead works well to further distinguish the difference between him and Claire.
Battle Theme: Your use of the electric guitar makes this feel like a Pokemon battle with the driving drumbeat. It would be cool if you created another layer to this track that added a double-time beat or extra energy with cymbals or something for when the battle gets particularly heated. This really impressive for your first time composing for a competition. Doing more and more of these has helped a lot of us, who are also not professionally trained (some are), improve our compositional skills as well. Thank you for sharing your work!
