That is horrifying, I wonder how it happened. The best thing to do is to head over to the save folder:
C:\Users\ "your username" \AppData\Local\PWG_2020\Saved
Delete the folder (it WILL delete all your settings and customized kitties, so make some notes if you need to such as name, etc)
It should reset any weird configurations, so let's hope this works!

You totally fixed it! Thank you so much! I also have an older version of this game as well which had the same issue and it was fixed by deleting the C:\Users\ "your username" \AppData\Local\PlayWithGilbert folder too. Don't worry, no one was horrified =) just very confused.
I have no idea what caused this, but it seems to be only me, so probably nothing to worry about overall. Checked the steam reviews and no one seemed to have this issue. The game is solid and bug free. Must have just been something weird with my system.
You have made my daughter so happy now. I cannot tell you how much joy this game brings to her. She likes it more than minecraft, mario etc. It's her favorite game.
