Pros:

  • Very solid attack/move system.
  • Nice and challenging.
  • I enjoyed the quips made by the main character when he takes damage.
  • Noticeable difference in how the level generates each time.

Improvements:

  • Pacing of the game is a bit slow. I did not get to see much variety in weapons/items/enemies in the time I played.
  • Perhaps add an audio or visual cue to signify when the players movement phase/attacking phase ends. I got caught out a couple of times and accidentally ended my turn when I did not want to.

Bugs:

  • Sliders start at 0% on the main menu, despite volume being at 100%

Very Roguey submission. Good Job!

Thanks for the detailed comment.

The variety in weapons and enemies unlocks gradually, IIRC the full range of options become possible (in the RNG) starting at the 4th or maybe 5th stage. I guess I could accelerate that a bit.

Good point on having a clear cue for which phase the player is in. the instruction box in the corner does have that information in it, but it may be worth making it more central.
