Skrill is a good platform, I've been using it since 2015 and it never upsets me. Skrill is cheaper than PayPal. When you're paying online, PayPal asks a 4.50% service fee, while Skrill has a 2.99% service fee. If you want to add money to your Skrill or PayPal wallet the service fee depends on the payment method you're using. So, I'll prefer using Skrill as both as a buyer and a seller on itch.io . Because in my country, We prefer Paytm or Skrill as a method. Paypal has done the wrong job of conversion in many countries. I'll give you the example of my freelancer brother :

•Money sent from US : 225 USD

•Fee deducted as Paypal fee: 12.04 USD

•Conversion rate provided : 1 USD to 68 INR

•(Although actual conversion rate that day was 1 usd to 71 INR )

•What he finally recieved in INR : 14,570.56

•What should he had got if there were no fee and conversion rate was perfect : 15,991.38

•Total loss: 1421 , which is ~10% !!

Hence if you recieving 100 USD , then what you actually getting is 90 USD,

Another reason to avoid PayPal for Indians(along with many more countries)

I'm not saying to replace Paypal but you can add Skrill as a method.

(+1)

Putting money on skrill in India costs 2.50%. Withdrawing money  in India costs 3.49% to 7.50% or flat INR 440.79 depending how you do it.

Transfer costs 2.99% with a minimum cost. Important for micropayment.

International costs 4.99%  with an additional  4.49% for currency exchange.

I dare say that , first the pricing is confusing to say it nicely, and second, there is not really much difference between skrill and paypal.

When paying with paypal, that goes directly to    my credit card, and   I do click the button that the credit card should   exchange the currency. Because mine does not add a surcharge for that. Even if it did, that would still be cheaper than the conversion from either paypal or skrill.

But what really confuses me, that apparantly paying with credit card on itch is more costly than with paypal, but in my case that would be exactly the same card, but without the middle man paypal getting money.

That being said,  alternatives to paypal would be welcome. Paypal is not a neutral payment processor.
