For some reason I thought this was going to be a visual novel, not a fully 3D game where you could walk around and stuff. It was a pleasant surprise, though. Although I was initially skeptical, the monochromatic stylized look really grew on me.
I do feel the rooms are a bit big and the controls a bit loose, but it's not a big deal. I wish mouse sensitivity was higher, I tried turning it up but it didn't seem to make a difference.
I unpacked a bunch of boxes, wondered why I was doing that, then found the key, went down a secret passage and found a star chest. I brought it back but then couldn't do anything. Didn't realize the game ended there until I gave up and read the game page.
The game is definitely in a state where there's a lot of stuff that feels like it should do something, but doesn't. The protagonist seems to get tired, but I couldn't figure out how to actually sleep. The energy mechanic (?), passing time, and presence of food hint at some kind of life simulator, but none of it seems to matter at this point. You can unpack the stuff from the boxes, but none of it seems to do anything.
The box opening minigame was cool the first time, but I quickly realized that it both had a typo in the text and didn't seem to actually register tap rate as expected.
I have mixed feelings about the openness of the game. I usually like my games signposted better, but finding the macguffin almost by chance after doing a bunch of random stuff gave it an air of discovery it wouldn't have had if there was a giant marker telling me to go there and get the thing.
The change in music when you find the star chest is great.
It is unfortunate that it currently ends where it does. The plot hasn't really even gotten started, and I have a lot more questions than answers.
