The basic features of a dungeon crawler (movement, inventory etc.) were already in place before the jam. The jam organizer encouraged this a bit too. :)
I wanted to focus more on creating a nice little fun experience with a neat story than just hacking in grid-based movement again. So thats why I used the code I already had. I wrote about this in the credits section too. The actual project was started on the first day of the jam in the afternoon, integrating my code together (which used up about 2 days too :D) and then laying the groundwork for the dungeon.
