Thank you! :) There is only one ending, you did nothing wrong. ;)

Thank you very much! :)

Thank you for playing my game and giving feedback! I am glad you liked it. :) Don't worry about the coin, or the items in general. Its pretty random, haha. The coin is not of a class which can be used into one of the slots. ;)

Thank you very much! I am glad you liked it. :)

Yeah unfortunately the theme twist comes in a bit late, but I hope its worth it, haha.

This is a very nice and soothing experience. It is not a classical dungeon crawler with monster-killing, but like an adventure with riddles. But this is a very nice change of pace. Navigating the world and solving the riddles was quite relaxing. The presentation and graphics felt very professional. The soundtrack was great too. The riddles were quite varied, like walking around "the block" several times like the water, haha. So it it never got boring and instead I wanted to see the next mirror. The messages in the sky were also a nice touch.

Overall it was a nice complete experience I could play directly from start to finish. Well done, I enjoyed playing this game very much. :)

On my path to glory I charmed my way through countless puppies, gnomes, and floating balls of steels. I guess they were too stunned by me irresistible personality, to even think about fighting back. :D

The game was pretty fun and looks quite well. I got a bit lost, but there were enough monsters to fulfill my quest, so it was fine. The music is very engaging and pretty fitting. Overall a nice entry with a good quality. I enjoyed playing it! :)

Hehe evil traps are evil. Yeah figuring the controls out at the start is a bit tricky. But still thanks for playing my game! :D

This is a really nice game. It has a lot of things going on and quite some gameplay features for just a jam game. The graphics and interface are really nice. I like the voice acting and all the dialogue. It has quite some story and I really like it when a game has this because this way I am much more immersed in the experience. It feels really professional this way.

Thanks to the comments and your notes, I was able to navigate the bugs, haha, so that wasn't that big of an issue. The enemies felt a bit far away though, or the squares are too big. Or maybe Cara is a giant, who knows. ;D

A narrative-driven crawler like this is one of my favorite genres, so I really enjoyed playing this. Good work! :)

The slime is a hero. Waiting all that time for an adventurer to show up, with a sword in its stomach, to give the hero the final item it needs to defeat the evil skeleton. :D

It was a nice short game. The music is nice and the general gameplay feels good. The guys behind bars are creepy, but fortunatly I only had to face a giant floating skull. I managed to defeat the skull in my first try, but it was quite tricky and super close. I was also trying to find the "secret area" on the map, but I guess its not accessible, haha. :D

In general good work and it was fun to play through it. :)

Building a deck is quite fun, so I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I don't I ever completely understood how damage/poison works, but it didn't matter ultimately. I just threw everything with a big number on the enemy.  :D

The graphics and presentation is pretty nice. I liked that there is even a story with an intro, this is very nice to have. It took me a couple of tries to defeat the golden knight, but once I had a good run and prepared the right cards everything went smoothly. The game ends rather abruptly, but apart from that it feels very polished.

It was a great experience playing this game. :)

Thanks, I am glad you liked it. :)

Yeah the beginning can be a bit hard, when the player has to figure out the controls. The game kinda throws you right in against real enemies, not just some rats below a tavern, haha. :D

Thank you for playing my game and giving feedback. :)

Ah, an half hour is what I estimated for this game too, thanks for stopping the time and letting me know. Pausing is a bit tricky in Unreal because it can break some UI things, but its all on the long list. Same with the cutscene playing again, after loading. :D

Thank you! Yes, the culprit were high-resolution textures and most of these were from Quixel. 8k textures for a single straw of grass is great, haha. I never shipped an Unreal game, so it took me quite a while to find the problem. I tried a lot of things shrinking the package. I deleted a lot of things from the levels and then manually from the project. I also tried to do some *.zip magic with high compression. I managed to bring it down to 3.88 GB, but that was not enough.

Fortunately a friendly dev at a discord channel gave me good tip regarding the textures, so I put some big compression on them all at once and was able to get the final build down to a comfortable size. I could even restore some of the stuff I deleted. :D

Your devlog is very big and informative. Its a really nice read. I also read the devlogs to your past games. It grants some interesting insights. As I promised I wrote some paragraphs too, (links in the description of the game at the bottom), though its not as large as your blog. I am not some kind of seasoned dev who does this as professionally as you. ;)

I charmed a rat king and then it exploded in a pile of blood.

This was a very surreal experience. The artstyle, the visuals, but also the sound and voice-acting makes all of this a very unquie experience. It reminds me a bit of Duke Nuken 3D, but on steroids. Generally I found it very fun and it was nice to advance and discover new moves and see where the game leads. Fighting is like everything else messy and chaotic, but with trial and error I could figure it out. A bit.

Very nice game, I had quite a bit of fun with it. :)

Very cool idea. Its was fun throwing insults or compliments at people. Had to start a couple of times. The graphics also very nice looking. Its a short but fun game and I enjoyed it. :)

Thanks for playing my game. :)

You are right with these points, I too want to make enemies attack more visible to the player. So they can more "feel" getting ripped apart by some dark shadows. I put it on the big list. :D

Thank you for checking out my game! My goal was to create to a complete experience with a nice little story and I am really glad you liked it. :)

Yes, unfortunately Unreal is a bit hardware-demanding, so I am sorry performance was not that great for you. There are ways to improve that, but Unreal performance optimization is an art for itself and that was a bit out-of-scope for the jam, haha. Still, I am happy could check it out as it is. I will certainly continue with this code-base and with what I learned during the jam. :D

I put a lot of points into intelligence and then I just stabbed everyone to death. :D Thats interesting choice for a story, some kind of wood folk going on a murder spree against victorian hat-wearing wood-cutters. I probably missed some things, like interactions or what all the skills do, but in the end I was able to kill the master engineer with "aim" and then shooting him with a big shotgun. So I guess it worked out.

Its a very nice and ambitious game. The setting is interesting and the music is nice too. I like that you give quite some backstory with a nice intro and outro sequence which is really cool and allows me to get into the game better.

The environment is very varied, so it doesnt get boring. Fighting was a bit weird - I always took damage the same second I killed someone. I guess thats their final dying breath or something, haha.

Overall I enjoyed playing it a lot. Very interesting concept. :)

Game set match! (Uhhm, wrong game, haha.)

This is a really innovative idea, I didn't expect a multiplayer "dungeon" crawler soccer game. I actually got someone to play it with me and it was quite fun and works relatively well for such a novel idea. Though it gets into chaotic button mashing really fast.

Great idea and fun game. :D

As the old man suggested, I turned back and did not enter the big evil portal. Instead I warned others of the dangers ahead. Then I lived a happy life in one of the 4 village shacks. Which also don't have doors.... So I had to move into the well... Hmm. :P

I really liked the retro feel of the game. The pixel graphics and the soundtrack is really great! (Though the mace sounds like if our hero is slapping the enemy with their bare hands, haha). The autobattle system was an interesting concept and I think it works well for this jam game. I was mostly soaking up the great athmosphere. It was also great that you have some texts and dialogue to explain the story. Thats always nice.

I did die a couple of times, but after timing the fountains right, I was able to gain the sword and defeat the evil wizard. :D

Also I am impressed by the small file size for the amount of content.

Great job, I really enjoyed playing it. :)

"Unfortunately I ran out of time, finishing the story". The was a wild story twist for the story of Cassandra and Alistair. :P

This game has a great foundation for a crawler. Its very unfortunate you couldn't finish it. I like games which tell me a story and and explain why I am actually here and murder tons of cute orcs and skeletons. Especially when its directly tied directly into the game with dialogues and characters. UI is nice too and generally the game mechanics work pretty well. The music soothing and nice. :) I went to the end and killed the boss (? I think), though the last soulstone doesnt do anything. Well, I will just declare myself as having freed Cassandra, haha.

One thing you should consider adding: If the player holds down the move key, continue to move in the direction. So the player doesnt have to button press all the time. Its better for a tired hand. :)

Nice game into which a lot effort went! Great job. :)

Thank you for your feedback! It was really fun and also educational for me watching you playing it. :)

Also you are a bloodthirsty monster! :P

(1 edit)

I really like the cute drawn artstyle of the character, the loot and the monsters. The premise is quite interesting. Games where you can gather loot and feel like a super-rich are always great. People have already pointed out the slow movement. I guess all these wood and gold is quite heavy, haha. It has a lot of potential with a small speed fix and would become a great game. :)

I am glad you liked it! Thank you for playing. :)

Indeed, items are a bit wonky, fixing this would have required some major work for which unfortunately was no time.

You are not the first person who kills the peaceful guards. Why is everyone so bloodthirsty? You monsters. :P I guess if something can be killed, players will try to kill it. :D

This is a great entry. The game feels very polished and professional. The ui, the graphics, it plays very well in that regard. The athmosphere is also really great, the world feels creepy and frightening. Gameplay-wise it plays like an old school crawler and thats really cool. Navigating is a bit disorientating though, got lost several times, haha. Fighting is a bit hard at times, but its a dangerous world(s) I guess. :D

I like that you made effort and put quite a bit of story and dialogue in the game, this always enhances an experience in my opinion. Story is a quite a bit important for me. Overall I really liked this experience. Nice game. :)

Thanks for playing! It was fun watching you making your best voice-over expression, haha. :D

Thanks for playing and giving feedback. :) I am glad you liked it. Yes, items are indeed a bit scuffed. I had no time to make any major work with them so there are quite some issues. Performance in the forest does indeed drop. But the area is fortunately not very large. Unreal performance optimization is an art for itself, though with more time its fixable. The duality-switch off part is code-wise a bit of a mess, but I think it turned out generally well, so take it as intentional, haha. :)

This a great and spooky game. Walking around in the big dark cave with just limited light was very creepy and frightening. And then there are the monsters lurking in the shadows... Its a great horror atmosphere! Graphics and sound are well done. Gameplay is not overly complex and focuses on the important parts which is cool. Overall I enjoyed getting lost in the caves, even if there is no happy ending but just more monsters waiting at you at the very end, haha.

Great game!

Well, I made a Dew lit tea. My inventory was very full at the end. I should have not hoarded everything on the way I guess, haha. The slimes were very cute. But they had to die, all of them.

Funny little game. :)

I catched the crabs. It was fun. The crabs are too cute, but a job is a job I guess. :D

Funny nice little game. :)

Thank you very much for playing my game! It was really fun and also very interesting watching you playing it. Seeing someone else playing your game gives a lot of useful information to the dev. :)

Your points are all valid. I couldn't really "balance" the game because time was running out, so I was stashing tons of health potions everywhere. I rather make to game too easy instead of players getting frustrated because they can't finish the game. Better safe than sorry.  :) The item system needs a bit of a rework and the bugs have to be fixed, indeed. I also actually wanted to give the new abilities after the twist to the player, but since the "switch-off" happens in a really hacky way code-wise, I couldn't do that in time for the jam (not as easy as it looks, haha).

That was a very funny game. Not a classic dungeon crawler and more like a story driven adventure but thats a nice change of pace. I liked the writing and the humor was great too. Peeking into other people's mails was great. I laughed quite a bit playing it. In the end I of course chose to become a great anime artist, because who wouldn't? :D

I had a lot of fun with this small but nice game. :)

This is some very great dystopian end-of-days setting. The atmosphere is very frightening and thats great. The art is very fitting, the monsters look very creepy. Switching between real world and cyberspace was cool and the minigame shook things up a bit. It took me a while to understand how to (properly) fight and how to navigate the cyberspace runes, though. I would have loved to get more information about the world and what happened, but sometimes mystery is great too. No real "happy" ending I guess, but you can't always save the world (or yourself at least, haha). :)

Thank you for playing and giving such great feedback! Its very helpful to have a detailed list with things to improve on, I will look into everything mentioned. :)

Yes lots of things are like that because of the limited time of the jam. For example I didn't really put much time into the items, thats why they have no or bad collision and may fall through walls and also have placeholder models at times. But I am glad you still liked it. I will also write a bit of a devlog, though I don't think anybody reads this. :D

Thank you for bringing this to my attention in the discord chat. I would have missed it out otherwise. I really liked the unusual scenario for the game. It reminded me a bit of "The Forest", which has similar "cave-diving" levels. Claustrophobic underwater mazes with survival elements is a cool mix and makes for a great creepy athmosphere. :)

I too had problem in the first underwater passage, but reading the comments helped me with the movement controls. I also died on the first stone trap later on. Didn't save until then, haha. Should have made a warning there, had to start from the beginning again. Apart from that it was pretty smooth sailing though. Dungeon gets more creepy the later you are in the game. :D Also lol@ the final trap at the end.

There are also a lot of cool mechanics in the game, like the pushing crates around or destroying barrels, the rock traps, etc. You managed to do a lot of stuff there and it adds some great depth.

I enjoyed it thoroughly. :)

Thanks for playing! Yeah its always fun defeating foes with their own deadly traps, haha. I am glad you like it. :)

Very nice game with a cool look. Saw it on stream, but also gave it myself a try. Punching my way though papers wizards, ogres and barrels was quite fun. The timing with the block is kinda hard "to get" at the start, but once you play often enough against an enemy type you get the timing, haha. Its cool to upgrade the fists with time, and with the monsters respawning, grinding a bit is possible too, to make it easier.

Very enjoyable experience! :)

Thank you! I appreciate it. :D

This is a really good game. Saw it on stream, but played it again myself. I like the nicely written dialogues which put my right into the story. Its very athmosperic. Some of the choices are quite fun and sassy, haha. The presentation and drawings are also very nice. The character generation and the NPCs were cool features which made the game feel very professional. It really feels like the demo to a great game ahead. :)

Of course I persuaded the feline pirates to give up their life of crime and join me. :D
