I am on Mac as well. Have you tried reinstalling? From a fresh download. Also is this extending to other Renpy games as well?
If a fresh install does not work, I would reccomend resetting your Renpy save data, which on Mac can be found in your documents.
BE WARNED, for Mac renpy clumps save data together iirc, so you would be effectively resetting your save data for ALL renpy games on your device. I'd try the fresh install myself. Also the new version is out any day now so perhaps you are best to wait for that to see if things get fixed.
