short answer:
most likely
long answer:
I'm considering it since this gets asked often enough, it just seems a little vanilla to add a male, but if you guys really want a male I'm not against the idea, I'll make a poll or something so I can gauge interest

Is there really a need to gauge intrest? Considering its the most made, and the most earning type of game plus hearing it asked for enough seems to say enough. I know it can seem strange, but vanilla is popular

there's always a need to gauge interest, but I've had the idea of creating a choose-your-own-gender mechanic in some future sandboxy games, so look out for that 👌

Well in that sense then doesnt the market of the most popular games being predominantly being male the best guage of intrest? At least they are on patreon.

Maybe, but where's the magic in that? begrudgingly following trends in order to make a "profit" sounds dull, that's why indie games are so much better than triple-A games. triple-A games figured out a formula 15 years ago and are too scared to deviate from it,  or have too many investors blocking the game's creative process. e.g. the assassins creed series.

Maybe I should've said I'm trying to gauge interest while also doing my own thing. That's what indie devs about mixing old things into new things.

profit isn't the most significant factor for me either, enjoyment is. I want to enjoy what I create and I like my niche, I won't make what everyone else makes just to make a profit. Variety is the spice of life, in future games sure, I don't mind making a male MC/choose you're own gender doohickey, but as I've previously stated those will be their own fun ideas in other games.

I will make the best game I can. make sure I spread the word properly this time. and then gauge interest.

Not sure trend is the word you want to use there
