I never experienced crashes so it's hard to say.
Persistent save is part of a plug-in that isn't necessary to run the game but it is to unlock a bunch of things in the game. Gallery, endings etc. all work with that plug-in.
Try deleting the plug-in "JKL_PersistentData" in Statues Win 0.9\www\js\plugins
