I completely agree he should have just realized it wasnt for him and moved on.

However you are really strawmanning them here.

From what I read they don't seem to be indicating their own "alpha-nesa". Games and stories, they arent about matching your reality, they are about joining into a new one (which can be similar to yours but not neccessary). You can want to escape into a reality of being "alpha" without being anything like that in real life.

Like, fuck that guy for feeling the need to shit on someone's story because it didn't meet their personal preferences - but i don't like bad faith arguements even in response to someone shitty

I may have overreacted a bit, but I don't regret saying any of it. It's how I feel. They hit too many of my buttons at once, with the disrespect for the dev and their work, the alpha/beta mindset, shitting on the story and characters in a game I enjoy, it smacked of petty bullying nonsense. That shit makes me come in hot lol. Also I don't feel like I really strawmanned them. I may have assigned them the personality type that they are trying to assume through the game, but they're the ones expressing that personality outside the game. I just used their own words against them.

I fully disagree and say you didn't over-react at all. The guy is a cunt. But you didn't use their own words against them. They weren't asserting their personality. They were asserting their preference for a character personality type. I personally often find myself enjoying reading through a story with a character type who is very different from who I am. I play games/ read stories to escape my shitty reality

I guess my point is - they deserve to be treated like shit, but it just frustrates me to see faulty logic used as a basis to attack someone even if they deserve it. I would fucking defend hitler if someone was using an illogical argument to attack him lol
