Fun/Mechanics

You possess people as you literally race to reach the afterlife. I think this is a fun concept and I think you executed it quite well. Each person that you can possess has a unique speed which adds strategy when you replay the game and you figure out which of the NPCs is more worthwhile to possess. Having to avoid traffic also adds an extra layer to the gameplay as you can’t just blindly walk towards the goal; you must stay vigilant to your surroundings.

If I were to critique anything, I think the controls were a bit stiff and awkward, especially when moving around as the ghost. I had some difficulty reaching the door at the end since it was awkward trying to steer the ghost. There were also a few collision issues with the character sticking to the ground and certain objects, but that’s to be expected with a game jam submission and you could easily polish that up later.

You might also want to make what areas are off limits more clear than just placing an invisible wall. I tried to possess a certain NPC before I realized they were out of bounds and died.

Theme

The game deals with the mortal world and the afterlife, so I think it handles the “two dimension” theme in a unique way.

Aesthetics

I enjoyed the colorful, low poly style. I think it fits well with the humorous tone of the game.

Music/Sound

The whimsical track that plays also complements the game’s tone and artstyle.

Overall

I think this is a fun concept and a nice execution of said concept. The game does have that addictive, arcade feel that will make the player think “Dang, I made it this far, I bet I can get further next time!” It fits the theme well and the music and art style fit the humorous tone of the game. Smooth out the controls and collision a bit and you have a pretty solid mini game here.
