Well, you can save everywhere you want, you just need the item for it. This is to make people play a bit more cautionary but still making the game feel more dangerous. 

Alas, if people send me more request to bring save back, I will. Depending on what feedback I get. THank you for your opinion. 

I mean, saving the game shouldn't require a consumable item.

Again, it's to make a difficulty curve a bit. It's the same as the save pillars or any other in game save that require player to interact with. It's not even that hard to craft, it's two most common items and cheapest, it's just something to give more in depth, also the main item is a personal diary which the player "writes down his daily life"
