Sadly, no. If you buy the game only on $5 (excluded from discount), you cannot change the purchasing once you bought it. Only when you bought the game on $10, you will have direct access to the game itself.
that's a lose / lose outcome. i lose a week and the devs lose 5 bucks. cest la gruyere.
