I really rather enjoyed that. Good concept, and genuinely turns tower defence on it's head. I'm not very good at it though, only managed to finish 4 of the 6 levels.
The presentation could do with some extra juice/feedback to the player. Like health bars, hit numbers etc. How am I meant to know how much harder Karen hits than Beta Man for example, and what are their relative health stats. How hard does the Roomba hit each person? What do the 5G towers do as area effect damage? Is it based on the distance, the grid squares? It's all a bit too hidden to be judged.
I really did enjoy the concept though. The art is good, the attack animations are great. No sound to speak of, but I understand the limits of Games Jam deadlines. It's so hard to make something that even runs, let alone functions as a fun game.
Character design is inspired too. Just the right mix of cultural references and love for the subject matter.
It might not get many reviews as it's a pain (not to mention a security risk) downloading, unzipping etc, then cleaning it all up again afterwards. Browser based builds are definitely the way to go, but again I understand that with the pressures of a strict deadline it's far harder to get a WebGL build to work. It's just not as simple as switching the platform and pressing Ctrl+B, even though that's what Unity would like us to believe.
